Lighting Guide - How to light your home
Creating the right lighting in your home is about combining function, mood and style. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to light every room in your home and give you suggestions on how to use Zlamp's lamps to create the perfect light.
-
Combine different light sources:
Good lighting consists of three types: general lighting, task lighting and mood lighting.
-
Lighting
There is ONE general rule for lighting – use many different light sources in a room. Even a small room can handle up to ten light sources, so just one ceiling light as a light source is not enough.
-
Choose the right brightness and color temperature:
Soft, warm light (2700K) is suitable for relaxed environments like living rooms, while cooler light (3000–4000K) is better for workspaces. 400–700 Lumens is a good guideline for general lighting.
Lighting in the hall
The lighting in the hall should be welcoming and functional. Opt for a combination of ceiling lighting and wall lamps to create a light that does not cast shadows. Often the ceilings are not very high and therefore a ceiling lamp is a good choice as a lamp in the hall. The ceiling lamp provides good general lighting and also lights up a larger part of the ceiling, which makes the room feel more spacious.
